Application Process for Home Energy Grants

Step 1: Find and Appoint a Registered SEAI Solar PV Company

Step 2: Apply to SEAI for Grant Offer
Next, you need to apply to SEAI for the grant offer. You can do this online or by post. You will need to provide some details about your home and the solar PV system you want to install.
Step 3: Installer Applies to ESB Networks
Once you’ve applied for the grant, your installer will apply to ESB Networks on your behalf to get permission to connect your solar PV system to the electricity distribution system.
Step 4: Install Solar PV Panels
After getting the necessary permissions, your installer will install the solar PV panels on your roof or in your garden, following the best practices and standards set by the SEAI and the Solar PV Code of Practice.
Step 5: Arrange a Post Works BER
After the installation is completed, you will need to arrange a Building Energy Rating (BER) assessment. A BER assessor will evaluate the energy performance of your home and issue a certificate and report.
Step 6: Company Submits Evidence of Works to SEAI
Once the BER assessment is done, your installer will submit the Declaration of Works and other supporting documents to SEAI as evidence of the completed installation.
Step 7: SEAI Processes the Claim
Finally, SEAI will review the evidence of work and process the grant payment. You can expect to receive the grant within 8 weeks of submitting the evidence of work.
