Requirements to Qualify for an EV Home Charger Grant in Ireland

To qualify for the SEAI EV Home Charger Grant in Ireland, applicants must meet several specific criteria, ensuring the installation aligns with government standards for safety and efficiency. Here’s a list of the key requirements:

\

Parking and Installation Location

Off-Street Parking: The electric vehicle must be parked in an off-street location, which is typically a driveway or garage of the applicant’s residence. This requirement ensures safe and private access to the charging station.

Charger Connection: The charging unit must be installed on the property and connected to the home’s electricity supply, emphasising the need for professional installation to comply with electrical safety standards.

\

Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN)

Proof of Residence: Applicants must provide their Meter Point Reference Number, found on the electricity bill, which helps confirm the location of the installation. This number is crucial for verifying that the installation site matches the grant application details.

\

Grant History

Previous Grants and Installations: Properties that have previously received an EV charger grant, or had a free ESB Ecars home charger installed before 2018, are not eligible. This rule ensures the distribution of funds to new applicants, broadening the initiative’s reach.

\

Grant Validity and Cancellation

Validity of Grant Offer: The grant offer is valid for six months from the date it is issued. If the installation is not completed within this period, the applicant must either reapply at a more suitable time or cancel the grant if they decide not to proceed.

To cancel, applicants must complete the EV home charger grant cancellation request form. This flexibility helps manage changes in applicant circumstances.

By meeting these grant requirements, you’re on track to advancing Ireland’s green transport goals. At Kirra Energy, we support you through each step, ensuring your application aligns with SEAI standards for a higher chance of approval.
